Infusion Nurse
Full Time; Part Time
Oak Lawn, IL
Responsible for the safe delivery of chemotherapy to our gynecologic oncology patients. We desire to hire a nurse who is passionate about caring for cancer patients in a community-based free-standing infusion center.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Safely administers and documents chemotherapy treatments as prescribed.
- Evaluates and/or assesses patient care needs and intervene as appropriate.
- Collaborates with physicians and clinical staff to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
- Maintains adherence to clinical practice guidelines.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and objectives.
- Educates patients and their families.
- Maintains the practices and principles set forth by GCIC leadership with a strong commitment to service excellence, and quality.
- Provides telephone triage assessments and intervention as appropriate.
- Maintains professional behavior, confidentiality, and discretion at all times, along with the ability to work with all levels of staff with a confident and professional demeanor.
Education: Bachelor’s or associate degree in nursing required. Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois. This position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in the administration of chemotherapy to gynecologic oncology or medical oncology patients. Chemotherapy/immunotherapy ONS/ONSS certification is required. OCN certification is highly recommended.
Experience: Minimum two years of chemotherapy administration experience.
Knowledge: The jobholder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position.
- Computer knowledge, including electronic medical record systems and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of available oncology resources in the community.
- Knowledge of various office communication devices and systems.
- Knowledge of basic and advanced oncology nursing principles and protocols.
- Knowledge of administrative policies, regulations, and procedures to deliver chemotherapy in a safe and effective manner.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, patient confidentiality (HIPAA), OHSA.
- Knowledge of medical record documentation procedures.
- Knowledge of outpatient care delivery and medical office organization.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instructions.
Skills:
- Skilled in appropriate patient assessment and assistance techniques.
- Skilled in understanding medical history, assessing and interpreting findings, along with the knowledge of common safety hazards and emergency situations.
- Skilled in preparing and maintaining records, and reports and responding to correspondence as needed.
- Skilled in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace, and confidentiality methods.
- Skilled in health information management by appropriately charting patient data.
- Skilled in advanced nursing principles and practices in gynecologic oncology and infusion.
- Skilled in multiple facets of communication.
- Skilled in organizational development.
Abilities:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; prioritize tasks and workloads.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients, family members, staff, and the public.
- Ability and knowledge to perform professional care appropriate to a chemotherapy nurse.
- Ability to lead, teach and guide others and/or interact effectively when presented with challenging tasks and situations.
- Ability to use various types of medical equipment typical of gynecologic oncology practice.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Strong analytical ability is required. Incumbents must collect, analyze and interpret data in order to solve problems requiring a professional level of knowledge in a specific discipline and/or design relatively complex clinical or administrative systems and programs.
- Ability to function well in a non-standardized work environment with changing demands. Assignments are often received based on results expected, due dates, and needs of the business. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Certified Medical Assistant
Full Time
Oak Lawn, IL, Downers Grove, IL
You must have a minimum of 2 years of experience, be a certified medical assistant and have reliable transportation. Experience with gynecology and/or oncology patients is a plus.
Your primary responsibilities include:
1. Greets and prepares patients for physician/PA examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
2. Takes all vital signs and documents all data in the patient’s electronic record.
3. Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies needed. Prepares equipment and aids physician/PA during treatment, examination and testing of patients.
4. Educates patient/family about diagnostic procedures, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness under the direction of the physician or PA.
5. Maintains/reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Records tests and examination results in patient’s record.
6. Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
7. Prepares/administers oral/intramuscular medications as directed.
8. Telephones or e-transmits prescriptions to pharmacy.
9. Maintains patient confidentiality.
10. Schedules referrals and tests.
11. Maintains test logs and follows up missing information.
12. Triage and processes messages from patients and provide feedback and answers to patients, physicians, pharmacies, etc.
13. Maintains equipment logs other required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperature, expired meds, sterilizations, etc.)
14. Performs other related duties as directed or required.
