My goal is to provide comprehensive cancer care for my patients. I chose the field of gynecologic oncology because I want to provide high quality, compassionate medical care to women, and my specialty is unique in that it allows me to offer patients several different modalities of treatment for their cancer including surgery and chemotherapy and it also allows me to develop long-term relationships with my patients and their families which I enjoy. I believe that trust is an important component of the doctor patient relationship and my goal is that my patients feel that we are in this fight against cancer together.

Background

Dr. Nikki Neubauer came to the Gynecologic Cancer Institute of Chicago from Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she was the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Robotics for the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. She has been an assistant professor at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine since 2012. Dr. Neubauer is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology.  She began her medical training at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Neubauer completed a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and has been practicing in Chicago, Illinois ever since.

Specialties and Interests

Dr. Neubauer is an expert in minimally surgery including robotics and laparoscopy. She was one of the first physicians at Northwestern Memorial Hospital to implement single site robotic surgery and she prides herself on being at the forefront of surgical advances in the field of gynecologic oncology. She takes a special interest in uterine cancers, gestational trophoblastic disease, patients with genetic conditions predisposing them to gynecologic malignancies, and radical surgery and chemotherapy for ovarian cancer.

Contributions to Gynecologic Oncology

Dr. Neubauer has done a significant amount of research in the field of gynecologic oncology, much of which has been published. She has authored or co-authored studies on minimally invasive surgery in the field of gynecologic oncology, chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, gestational trophoblastic disease and vulvar cancer. She has had abstract and presentations presented at the Annual Meeting for the Society of Gynecologic Oncology since 2009.

At Northwestern she developed and implemented a simulation and robotics training program for the obstetrics and gynecology residents.

She is a member of ASCO, SGO, AAGL, GOG and ACOG. She also takes an interest in sexual health for cancer survivors and is one of the first members of the group on Cancer and Female Sexuality which focuses on research and support for cancer survivors with sexual health concerns.

Dr. Nikki Neubauer specializes in the care of women with gynecologic cancers, complex gynecologic pathology and those patients interested in an innovative minimally invasive approach to surgery.

She offers comprehensive and individualized cancer care to her patients with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgical techniques and state of the art chemotherapy in an empathetic and caring environment. Her goal is that her patients and their family feel that they are in the fight against cancer together.
